Open Call Artists Announced

LOOK/17 is pleased to announce our selection of artists for the Fringe Programme. We will be showcasing the work of 21 photographers who entered the recent open call.

We had a large number of entries relating to China and Urbanism and the selection process was very difficult. Over the next few weeks, we will be working with the artists to help realise their shows. We will be looking to have photographers in a range of venues and will look to have single artists as well as groups shows. We are also working with the fringe artists to share series of events such as artists talks as well as panel debates and workshop activities.

LOOK is committed to providing opportunities for photographers to get involved with the festival and are very excited by being able to offer this open call as part of our programme.

Fringe artists: Adrian Davies, Carlton Douglas Watt, Chris Lee, James H Bollen, Bertha Wang, Alec Aarons, Shira Gutgold, Jon Wyatt, Gemma Thorpe, Jasmin Chong, Kate Peters, Marc Provins, Michael Kirkham, Peter Mearns, Clement Chan, Michael Walls, Geoff Brokate, Daniel Wallis, Robert Battersby, Tristan Poyser and Benjamin McDonnell.

Open call

LOOK/17 is seeking applications from UK based artists. We are seeking photographic work that relates to the themes of China and or Urbanism. As well as opportunities to exhibit, we would anticipate that selected artists participate in hosting related events, such as talks or workshops.

The LOOK/17 team will make a selection of artists for inclusion in exhibitions at various secured venues across the city. Successful artists will be responsible for coordinating the installation of their work in conversation with the LOOK/17 team. All artists selected for exhibition will be featured on the festival blog and promoted via social media.

If you have a project that relates to these themes we would love to hear from you. The deadline for submissions is 22 February 2017.

To apply, please send us three images (please resize each image to 3000 pixels along the longest edge), a short text describing your work (no more than 100 words) including an indication of display requirements, i.e. print, screen based, and scale. Please send with your name, email address, mobile number and web address to: [email protected]
