Combining work from college, first and second year degree students, this is the first student group show held as part of a LOOK festival. This work will be teamed with work coming in from the Texas Photographic Society, to as a little international j’nais ce qoi! There are very few mainstream photography courses being taught in the UK today, but City of Liverpool College and Hugh Baird are bucking the trend and providing us with the image makers of the future. To support their work, LOOK/15 are bringing them into the fold, teaming with another pioneering group If Only….! who have recently taken on the 8 Water Street. In a new relationship between LOOK and the Texas Photographic Society (TPS), we see some of the latest competition work submitted by photographers in one of the photographic centres of the world, Texas (home to Fotofest). This work has been set in with the student shows, where we look at techniques, idea development and image making in the context of a group show. Will the concerns and process between the shows be the same and will the ideas interact in this transatlantic exchange? We have yet to find out!
